Romancing the Hop! Romance + Hopping!

Someone put a plant on my dinner plate! And my heart loves it!

#SixSunday surfers: Looking for Six Sentence Sunday? It’s here.

#RomHop surfers: Welcome to my blog, where we love both Romance and Hopping!

By this point I know you’re completely romanced out. You’re probably dying for a scene where a despairing husband and wife scream at each other in the car on the way to divorce court.

I almost gave you a scene like that! My book Trapper and Emmeline is about two college kids who are inventing a new way to be in love. (Hint: It involves flirting, PDA, strangers, and a lot of sex.) There are ample chances for their budding romance to go wrong… and at one point it does.

They fight, and Trapper flees. Emmeline’s emails to him grow steadily longer and more desperate. He’s checking his computer every 30 seconds for the next one. Finally, he realizes he can’t hide forever, and meets her outside a classroom.

Read the excerpt after the jump!

I saw Emmeline down the hall and she knocked the breath out of me. I had forgotten her physical presence. She filled the hallway like some sort of attentional Roman candle: she was a geyser of eye-catching gestures, infectious laughter, captivating curves and shapes.

Seeing her after a week’s absence was like returning to Manhattan from Tibet, jarring and dreamlike. I felt the call of both lives—the life where I fell into Emmeline’s gravitational field and spun toward her like a disintegrating satellite, and the safe life where I never saw Emmeline again and floated alone through cold space forever.

There was never a choice. If you ever want to hate Emmeline, you can’t look at her, stand next to her, see her in a hallway, read her phone texts, open her emails, or listen to your roommates openly fantasize about her in your presence. You won’t stand a chance.

There she was in the hallway. I slowed to a stop and admired her.

My girlfriend.

…Because there’s more to romance than falling for a shiny new guy. There’s the less glamorous (but still sexy) part where you make the relationship work.

Omigosh I’m sorry! I didn’t know you were holding back on that! I changed my reply to keep things a little mysterious. I don’t want to be the one to shake you awake.

I’ve already got my copy, so I just came to tell people that I’ve not finished it yet, but I love it. I’ve been terrible about reading lately, but the other day I went from 40%-88%, and the house was very unhelpful and did not clean itself.

Thank you 🙂 I got the latest paper proof copy of the book and started hacking it up again… so many little typos! I just want to die.

Everybody who sees this during the hop: If you haven’t read Antoinette M’s “The Vampire Rubbed My Cock” post you’re missing out on some vampire, cock, and rubbing literature. And I do mean literature, it’s superb.

Thanks for participating! Really like the hop so far!! I love reading, especially romance. I love reading contemporary, historical and erotic romance. I love the happy ending that is garenteed at the end. My favorite book is Lover Mine by JR Ward! I love John Matthew and Xhex. My favorite romantic moment was when my fiancé asked me to marry him! We meant two years ago right around when summer was ending! I think it is romantic when he brings me flowers because no one else has ever done it! My friend and I went out for our last big night out before classes started again. Thanks so much! Hope everyone else is having a great long weekend!!

For me, romance is all about the trust and respect built between the characters. Since I write BDSM, these elements are very important.

I’m a sucker for the HEA. All my favorite authors give me a great story line, characters I can identify with, HOT love scenes and a perfect HEA!
